About the Outlife Expert Team

My name is Andy and I am the owner of OutlifeExpert.com

Hi I am Andy and I love nature, animals, science and hiking.

I love getting out into the outdoors whatever it entails. I like hiking multi-day trails in the mountains as well as shorter weekend trips and going bird watching in the local forest.

I love animals, plants, microbes, and everything in between, but of all animals, birds will always have a special place in my heart!

Me and my partner, Julia, are both extremely fascinated by animals and being in nature. We both have a background in biology and hold Ph.D. degrees in different fields of biological sciences. Julia, an avid ornithologist with a PhD, is a passionate blog author and editor at OutlifeExpert.

With her keen eye for detail and love for the outdoors, she delves into the intricate world of wildlife, unraveling the fascinating dynamics of complex ecosystems through her research and bird-watching adventures. So sometimes the content on this blog might get a bit nerdy! 😉

For example, did you know that there is a sea slug that makes photosynthesis to obtain energy just like plants do? Fascinating right!

As much as we like our daily jobs as scientists, we love to do research on all topics related to animal life and the outdoors.

We made this blog to foster our love of disseminating our knowledge and experiences.

I work my day job as a scientist in a microbiology lab and Julia does her research in macroecology and the evolution of larger animal species.

We both teach regularly and this site helps bring some of our knowledge to a broader audience and some of the posts on this site are actually used more or less directly as course material for our students!

Another goal of this blog is also that you will be able to find all the information you need to have a great time outdoors!

We have written about some of our favorite pieces of equipment for hiking, bird watching etc. that help make those trips a bit more fun! Especially, we spend a ton of time researching the best cheap, but top quality, tents to bring hiking!

Here you will find everything from hiking advice and gear reviews to curious facts about animals and the natural world!

Hopefully, you will find everything you need to know to learn about and enjoy life outdoors – whether its your own or that of the millions of fascinating species inhabiting this earth!

Feel free to contact us via the contact page if you have any questions or feedback!

Enjoy!
